Route 1A

Route 1A will travel between DART Central Station and Walmart (Altoona) every half hour most of the day, seven days a week.

The bus will follow these directions:

• Leave DART Central Station and travel north on 6th Avenue.
• Turn right onto East University and travel east.
• Turn left onto East 23rd Street and travel north.
• Turn right onto Hubbell Avenue and travel northeast.

• Turn right onto East Euclid Avenue and travel east.
• Turn left onto Hubbell Avenue and travel northeast.

Route 1B

Route 1B will travel between DART Central Station and Walmart in Altoona every half hour most of the day, seven days a week. Unlike Route 1A, the 1B will not serve the Outlets of Des Moines, and will use different streets to reach Altoona, allowing DART to serve more of east Des Moines.

Inbound from Walmart (Altoona) to DART Central Station

• Leave Walmart and continue south on 34th Avenue SW.
• Turn right onto 8th Street SW and travel west.
• Turn left onto Hubbell Avenue and travel southwest.
• Turn left onto East 42nd and travel south.

Route 2

Route 2 will travel between DART Central Station and the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Des Moines every 15 minutes most of the day, seven days a week. The route will pull into Polk County River Place on weekdays during operating hours only and will turn left onto Douglas Avenue from M.L.K. Junior Parkway when the facility is closed.

• Turn left onto 16th Street and travel north.
• Turn left onto Hickman Road and travel west.
• Turn right onto M.L.K. Junior Parkway and travel north.
• Turn right onto Euclid Avenue and travel east to Polk County River Place.
• Turn right out of Polk County River Place onto Euclid Avenue and travel west, continue west on Douglas Avenue.

Inbound from Veterans Affairs Hospital to DART Central Station

• Leave the VA Hospital facing south on 30th Street.
• Immediately turn left onto Euclid Avenue and travel east.
• Turn right onto M.L.K. Junior Parkway and travel south.
• Turn left onto Hickman Road and travel east.
• Enter the Broadlawns Hospital driveway, making a counterclockwise loop and taking another left back onto Hickman Road to travel east.
• Turn right onto 16th Street and travel south.

• Turn left onto M.L.K. Junior Parkway and travel south.

Route 3 and 3L

Route 3 will travel between DART Central Station and Windsor Heights Walmart, using University Avenue, with a bus traveling every 15 minutes, most of the day seven days a week. Half of those buses, alternating every other trip, will be called Route 3L and will continue to the Walmart on Mills Civic Parkway in West Des Moines.

• Leave DART Central Station and travel north on 6th Avenue.
• Turn left onto University Avenue and travel west.
• Turn left into the parking lot of Walmart in Windsor Heights and travel south, serving the transit platform. Route 3 buses will end here. Route 3L buses will continue as follows:
• Turn right onto Buffalo Road and travel west, continue on to Westown Parkway.
• Turn right onto 31st Street and travel north.
• Turn left onto University Avenue and travel west.

Route 4

Route 4 will operate in a two-way loop, connecting DART Central Station to many key destinations in Des Moines, Urbandale, Clive, Windsor Heights and West Des Moines. Buses will run in both directions every 30 minutes, most of the day seven days a week.

Half of those buses on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., alternating every-another trip, will continue to Ankeny using 2nd Avenue and will be called Route 9L.

Inbound From Amazon DSM5 to Altoona
